BF 1942 is Free to play

I had BF1942 still installed from my old discs. Installed it through Origin into the same folder.
Was done in 5 minutes.

But what you should now: you cannot join the same game with this edition as the original one.
Maybe even joining our own server does not work. Gonna try that.


Edit: Nope... cannot find our own COOP server.

Unfortunately, no. This Origin digital download version can only be played against other players who are using the same version. But since it’s free for everyone, everyone can download their own copy of the game. This version of the game will only show applicable (new) servers in the server browser

Yup, read that... so this release is pretty useless for us (read: iquana) until we are able to host a gameserver ourselves. Don't think that's possible at the moment.

You all have BF1942 on the shelf (including Mods) but dont play it for 2 years or longer , oh but wait it's "free" now we have to play!
