Windows 7 and BF1942 or PunkbustrA

Hi,

got a new pc and problem with bf1942 or dc.
(Am running Windows7 Premium 64bits.)
everytime i get kicked by PB with communication failure : punkbstrA.exe

what did i do±
i took a beer and installed 1942, i installed all patches, i installed and re-installed punkbusterupdate, i took another beer, updated the thingy. even downloaded the pdsec.htm and installed it.
but no joy..

when i compare old machine to new i see that punkbstra.exe is running in windows taskmanager under Processes. when i look in my new pc it isnt..
when i was looking at the pbsec.htm in properties it stated at security in main screen that it came from another machine and i could ehhhm de/block it. so i did.. and took another beer

still no joy.so another beer..
getting a bit frustrated..(and drunk)

Mmmm..... W7 and bf42+pb...... Messerschmidt has got it working, but that is the only case known. All other ppl I heard, did not get it running. I s'pose you allready tried to exe in XP compatibility modus?

Found It !!!!

finally after a few more beers and hours, browsing thru dozens of websites..

when installing PB, and 1942 or other, you must edit the properties of the program icon. in the first tabblad of the shortcut hit the button "advanced" and let it run under "administrator". Also check if the update of PB placed the pbsec.htm in \pb.
you receive a warning when starting it, just press OK, then bf or dc starts and PB installs punkbstra.exe as a process and you can play...

Cool. I take a bit of that post, and put it in our 'help' section, name it Win7 and BF1942/PB.

Ik heb het als volgt gedaan

Open programma bestanden -> EAgames -> Battlefield1942 -> Eerste setup BF1942 voldaan RECHTERMUISKNOP klikken -> COMPABILITEITSPROBLEMEN oplossen -> kies daar voor de optie XP

that last part, what Messerschmidt writes, i did also as DC froze over a couple of times.

select the properties of the dc-shortcut, select Compatability, select compatability-mode : XP (sp3), select aply.. and all works great...
